The founding director of Empowered by Pink, Inc., Priscilla Camp, is a native of Atlanta and has lived in East Metro-Atlanta for the last decade. She has over 12 years of healthcare experience and numerous years of supporting health-related community service projects. Her background includes a B.A. in Sociology from Georgia State University, and she also holds a Masters in Business Management.
She has done numerous volunteer work with American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, JDRF, and American Heart Association's Go RED for Women heart campaign. She served as chapter lead of Women of WellPoint (WOW), a resource group that emphasizes women's health and promotional opportunities. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Junior League of Atlanta as well as Springfield Baptist Church in Conyers, Ga.
Background: While working as a disability specialist, she began to see an influx in the number of cancer claims that were diagnosed at later stages. During that time, she also experienced the death (due to cancer) of several family members as well as a sorority sister who lost her battle to breast cancer. Feeling powerless, she began to think of ways in which she could make an impact in the fight against cancer. It was during this time that her purpose was revealed, and the groundwork for Empowered by Pink began.
Priscilla has vowed to live a life of philanthropy and to dedicate her life to raising awareness and educating the community on ways to prevent cancer. "Everyone deserves to live a full, sustaining life without cancer. No one should have their life cut short due to not being able to receive quality healthcare. If it means that I am only able to save one life, I am willing to start with that, but I will continue the fight, until my mission is complete".
